Marriage of Sense and Soul, The Author: Ken Wilber Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: March 8, 2000 (by Scott) (Audible version) Scott's Review: on March 8, 2000 Do religion and science have to be truly separated? That's the basic question behind this thought-provoking book. Much of the book is spent showing how the current world works, and how the three spheres, science, art, and religion, are separated, and still share many similarities. Then, near the last tenth of the book, the author discusses what science and religion would have to loose to integrate them back into one ideal sphere. I'm not sure I could follow his leaps. His primarily construct is that religion would have to accept losing most of its dogma and just be left with visions and whatnot. But even if I don't agree with him, the book is a fascinating look at where we are, and how we got here. And perhaps most importantly, it's easy to follow, and it gets you thinking about what you believe in, and how to reconcile all the incongruities in your life. -- Scott and Michelle |
