I never realized how much Xerox's PARC played a hand in developing the computer that we know and use today. This book takes us back in time, to the founding of PARC, the fabled Palo Alto Research Center, and discusses what technologies they're responsible for, why they developed them, and who the great men behind them were. It manages to do it in such a way that keeps you very interested, mixing the anecdotes of the time with the political compromises these geniuses had to make with Xerox to keep their job (or not). It's truly a fascinating read on the organization that is perhaps mostly responsible shaping the modern computer era.
