Medallion, The Release Year: 2003 Average Rating: Last Reviewed On: April 11, 2004 (by Scott) (DVD version) Scott's Review: on April 11, 2004 Jackie Chan dies and is reborn into Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Okay, it's not exactly like that, but the bulk of this movie seems to exist soley to let Jackie Chan perform super-human martial arts skills. When I saw Jackie Chan doing obvious wire work in The Tuxedo, I was disappointed. Part of the fun of watching Chan is seeing his barely believable work come alive. Strangely enough, I wasn't as disappointed with this movie. At least, I'm not disappointed because I missed out on Jackie Chan's reality. The plot makes little to no sense. There's some humor that Chan's older movies are famous for. The Matrix-style martial arts are mildly fun. Somehow though, you expect more plot and acting when you watch a movie that's missing Chan's unique ability to defy common sense. This movie doesn't deliver, and doesn't disappoint, it just kind of is. -- Scott and Michelle |
