Survivor Author: Chuck Palahniuk Average Rating: ![]() Last Reviewed On: August 20, 2005 (by Scott) Scott's Review: ![]() Much like Palahniuk's 'Fight Club' survivor is an attempt to look at what makes us human when viewed through some of humanities worst filters. It's written as a modern day confession of the sole survivor of a religious cult. If such could be said though, the characters from 'Fight Club', intent on causing mayhem through anarchy, can be seen as a nice lot compared to the bunch of folk in this book. People who freak you out, and who's only redeeming quality seems to be their own fear of themselves. There's plenty of dry satirical commentary on our societies faults and remedies, like drug companies that create and patent names long before the medicine to sell is discovered. It'll keep your interest all the way throughout the story, even though because of the mechanism of the story telling, you know exactly where the main character will end up before you finish the first chapter. -- Scott and Michelle |
